Alfamart is a franchised chain of convenience store mini-markets located throughout Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. While Alfamart is a full-fledged convenience store, offering customers basic goods, they also facilitate bill payment services, and allow customers to pay
in-store for goods purchased online, using a barcode voucher system.
A consumer who wants to make a purchase online, but also wants to pay in cash, can select the Alfamart logo in the shopping carts of participating websites. They will receive a barcode that can be printed or stored in their mobile device.
They can bring this barcode to any Alfamart before the voucher’s expiration date. The cashier will scan the voucher at the point of sale (POS) and, once payment has been made, the online merchant will complete the purchase.
Alfamart is accepted at more than 2 million locations across Indonesia, as well as in select locations in the Philippines and Vietnam.
To participate, merchants just need an Alfamart POS device (available at many retailers), which will allow them to accept payments from mobile phone users in exchange for a small fee paid to Alfamart every time they make a sale through their POS device.
